The 13th edition of the Intwasa Festival will kick off on 27 September to 30 September. The festival will run concurrently with the Sanganai/Hlanganani Tourism Festival. For the first time in the festival’s history and also in Bulawayo history, the festival will kick off with a street carnival on 27 September.
The first ever Bulawayo street carnival came about as a result of the need to attract more people and also due to popular demand from various groups and individuals who were inspired by the successful Harare street carnival in 2015, only to be disappointed by the subsequent no-show a year later due to financial constraints as explained by the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority.
The Intwasa street festival will attract exhibitions from groups from all over the world including Nigeria, India, Brazil, Democratic Republic of Congo, Indonesia, Egypt, Ghana, Mozambique, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, United Kingdom and Swaziland.
